Prolong the life of your fruit and veg

These simple hacks will help keep your fresh food fresh!

Whether you've had a fruit box delivered to your office and haven't had a chance to eat it all, or you're going on holiday and have concerns about the contents of your fruit bowl, there are a number of ways to prolong the life of your fruit and vegetables and help to maintain those sacred nutrients and delicious flavours.

To make life a little easier for you, we've put together a list of hacks to help ensure that your fruit hampers and vegetable boxes stay as fresh as can be for as long as you need.


Whatever your berry of choice (we particularly love raspberries, strawberries and blueberries), keeping them fresh for more than a couple of days can be tricky business. To prevent any over-ripening or potential mould growth, there is a simple solution - bathe your berries in water and vinegar then rinse and dry. Store in the fridge in a sealed container and say hello to fresh berries for longer than ever.


A very simple way to keep your asparagus fresh for longer is to store them in a jar of water just like a bouquet of flowers and store in the fridge!


Apples are one of the few fruits that stay fresh for a relatively long period, however as they begin to rot they release a lot of ethylene gas which can be very harmful to any neighbouring fruits in your bowl.
