Now that the winter months are upon us, there's nothing quite like a warming dessert or hot drink to warm up a chilly evening. Blackberries are the ideal ingredient for any winter recipe, with just the right balance of sweet and tartness.

A wintery twist on a classic sweet treat, why not add a blackberry jam filling to your next batch of doughnuts? To create the jam, simply warm sugar on a low heat and add blackberries. Heat until the blackberries begin to release their juice and add a little lemon juice. Bring to the boil whilst stirring then leave to cool for the perfect sweet and zingy doughnut filling.
Switch up a classic by adding blackberries to your lemonade! To make this delicious drink, simply add lemons, mint leaves, sugar, water and blackberries to a food processer and blend. Once smooth and juicy, strain the mixture and chill for up to a week! For the perfect Christmas party drink, top up with prosecco or fizzy water.
Apple and blackberry crumble
Tasty as well as warming, this dessert is the ideal addition to any dinner table. To create a gooey and sweet fruit compote, add butter and sugar to a saucepan on medium heat and melt together to create a light caramel. Add chopped apples followed by blackberries and a pinch of cinnamon. Leave to simmer then add to your favourite oven-proof dish. Cover the mixture with a crumble topping and serve!
