Fruit of the Month - December

This month, we're focusing on Figs!

December is here and Christmas is just around the corner. As the festive period approaches, fruity dishes become more and more popular, making December a great time to use up those leftover figs!

From warming desserts, to festive side dishes, there are a number of delicious recipes that will put your leftover fruits to good use.

Fig and honey Christmas cake
Why not add a little twist to your Christmas cake this year? Adding a dash of honey and those leftover figs to your usual Christmas cake recipe is a great way to liven up an old favourite.

Cinnamon fig dessert
The ideal end to your festive menu, this cinnamon fig dish is a warming, sweet treat. To create this dessert, simply heat figs under the grill along with a drizzle of honey, a spoonful of butter and a sprinkle of nuts and cinnamon. Once warmed through, you'll be left with a sticky, sweet dessert the whole family will love.

Fig and mozzarella salad
Whether you're looking for a delicious starter or the ideal side dish, this fig salad is ideal. Simply toss figs, mozzarella and your favourite leafy greens together and drizzle with balsamic vinegar, extra-virgin olive oil and a pinch of thyme for a sweet and savoury fresh dish.

Fig and raspberry cake
Switch up your usual sponge cake with a little extra sweetness and texture. To your cake mixture, add sliced figs and raspberries then scatter with flaked almonds before baking for an extra crunch - a tasty addition to any afternoon tea, or perfect after a roast!
