Say goodbye to 'cake culture'
Is your office the home of unhealthy snacks?
The dental faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons has urged businesses to supply employees with healthy snacks such as fruit or nuts, and get rid of the 'cake culture' of sweet snacks like cake and biscuits that are all too common in the workplace.
Many of us find ourselves making a conscious effort to eat healthily outside of work, but once in the office find it hard to say no to the sugary snacks that are passed around. The Royal College of Surgeons' Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) has expressed concerns about this culture, suggesting that we banish it all together in favour of healthy new one where fruit and nuts are available freely throughout the workplace.
In many cases, the office has become a working environment renowned for employees that consume large amounts of sugary drinks, convenience foods and snacks. According to the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, '40% of people made a resolution to lose weight last year', suggesting that it is time we do something to change our culture and help ourselves to reach these goals.
